Gamecocks, Wolfpack open season

South Carolina hosts North Carolina State Thursday night to kick off their respective seasons.
The Gamecocks and coach Steve Spurrier look to end the five-game losing streak they carried into the offseason. The Wolfpack and coach Tom O'Brien hope to improve on the 5-7 mark they had in the coach's first year at North Carolina State.
Both teams will use first time starters at quarterback. For South Carolina, it's be junior Tommy Beecher and for North Carolina State, it will be freshman Russell Wilson.
