Attorney: Victim won’t oppose PTI for Clemson player
By Associated Press Tuesday, August 12, 2008CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — The lawyer for the woman who accused Clemson safety DeAndre McDaniel of assault says she will not oppose the possibility of the player entering a pre-trial intervention program.
Sumter attorney Kenneth Young says he’s signed a letter that advises Pickens County prosecutors there were no objections to McDaniel taking part in the program for first-time offenders.
McDaniel was arrested in June and charged with aggravated assault and battery. He has remained in school and part of the football team while the case has progressed.
McDaniel had not been yet been granted PTI, said the player’s attorney Nick Lavery. Lavery would not say if McDaniel was pursuing PTI.
Young said the woman also wants McDaniel to reimburse her for medical bills.
