FLORENCE — Elizabeth Fogle, Bashir Hamidi Vadeghan and Magdalene Laursen are among 86 students who have accepted scholarships and are expected to enroll in the freshman class of 2008. Scholarship awards were presented to the most deserving recipients in four categories.

These categories included the Patriot Scholars, Academic Distinction, Academic Excellence and the Pee Dee Scholars.

These scholarships were granted based on superior academic excellence and leadership in the community. The Francis Marion Scholarship program aims to recognize students who exceed expectations at their perspective high schools and who meet the grade point average standard of a 3.0 or higher and an SAT score of 1,100 or higher.
