Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old male Swansea High School student on charges that he tried to assault five female students, ages 15 to 17.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said deputies arrested Daonte Mario Turner, 19, of 325 Happy Town Road, Gaston, on one count of assault with intent to commit first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of committing or attempting to commit a lewd act on a child under the age of 16, four counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and one count of indecent exposure.

Arrest warrants allege that on multiple occasions, Turner exposed himself to students and grabbed their private parts. Officials allege that on one occasion, he attempted to force a student to perform a sexual act on him.

Metts is asking anyone with information about the case to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at 803-785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-559-TIPS. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip Link on the Sheriff’s Department web site: www.lexingtonsheriff.com.
